BYU Women's Softball Heads East to Tackls UNC

PROVO, Utah - The BYU women's softball team (41-18) will make their fourth-straight NCAA Regional Tournament appearance Thursday in the Chapel Hill Regional.

The Cougars are slated to play North Carolina (50-10-1) Thursday at 3:30 p.m. Also participating in the Chapel Hill Region is Campbell (41-23) and no. 15 seed Georgia (43-22), who will play game one Thursday at 1:00 p.m. The Chapel Hill Region is one of the two regions that play a Thursday through Saturday schedule.

BYU has defeated four top 25 teams this season, but has dropped five games to teams ranked in the top 10.In its four years of postseason play, BYU has a 4-8 record, posting recent wins against Cal Poly and Southern Utah.

The NCAA Regional selection includes 64 teams, 30 automatic bids and 34 at-large bids. This is BYU's second at-large bid, the last time occurring in the 2006 season.

In 2007, the Cougars hosted a Regional at Gail Miller Field and made their furthest post-season appearance in the NCAA Regional Championship game. They fell to Arizona State, 3-6.

The Cougars ended the regular season with a second place Mountain West Conference finish.
