Kathy Bryson and Karen Herd Talbot taught women how to recognize, qualify and follow the spirit in their talk titled, "'That which they most desired-the Holy Ghost': Qualifying for the Influence of the Spirit."

In a story likening the help the Holy Ghost provides through life, to driving at night without any headlights, Bryson said, "Most of humanity is navigating [through life] without illumination. The Holy Ghost can illuminate all things."

The Holy Ghost teaches, brings peace and comfort and sanctifies. Bryson taught that these are the three key "ingredients" the Holy Ghost adds to our lives that help recognize the spirit in daily lives. The Holy Ghost teaches us to see life more clearly, and the most vital truths taught are those about love. The Holy Ghost brings peace to our lives, and peace is the one feeling that Satan cannot duplicate.

"What greater peace is there than having a sure knowledge Christ lives," Bryson said.

Bryson continued to explain sanctification as a long process, but because it is a slow process that goes throughout life, we do not often notice it.

Talbot taught five ways to help qualify for the Holy Ghost, the next step after being able to recognize the Spirit. These are to be humble, to listen for the Holy Ghost, to have faith the Holy Ghost will help and guide, to strive to obey the commandments and to serve others. "After we learn to recognize and qualify [the Spirit], we need to follow those promptings," Talbot said.
