*Sunday afternoon session

Elder Robert D. Hales counseled parents and families what they need to do to raise a righteous family and how to deal with loved ones who wander down darker paths.

Elder Hales said it is important to regularly hold family counsels and to show a genuine interest in each family member's life. It is important to create an atmosphere where the Holy Ghost may thrive and to always use the gospel as a guide in life.

"The gospel of Jesus Christ addresses every challenge in our lives," Elder Hales said. "This is why we need to teach it to our children."

Elder Hales also emphasized how important it is to keep relationships alive with family members who have strayed from the gospel.

"It is never too late to open the door between parents and children with the simple words I love you, I am sorry, please forgive me," Elder Hales said.
