"How grateful we ought to feel for this beautiful conference," President Gordon B. Hinckley said at the end of Sunday afternoon's general conference session. "I hope that everyone who has participated in this conference has felt the spirit."
"I offer a plea that each of us will seek to be closer to the Lord," President Hinckley said.
President Hinckley urged parents and children to pray for each other. He said that he realized many have difficult roads to walk and prayer will help.
President Hinckley asked the Saints to pray for peace in the world at this time of conflict.
President Hinckley even pleaded with the Saints to pray for the weather. There are droughts and floods in some areas of the world, and if enough prayers are sent up, the Lord will help those lands that are struggling at this time."Pray for wisdom and understanding as you walk the paths of your lives," President Hinckley said. He also warned that if one chooses the path of unrighteousness, Christ would not be so quick to help us.
"Let us be a prayerful people," President Hinckley said.
"He who is watching over us slumbers not, nor sleeps," Hinckley said.
President Hinckley expressed his gratitude toward those who pray for him and those who move forward with faith and steadfastness in the gospel.
