President Boyd K. Packer.

President Boyd K. Packer of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles addressed the elderly saints about the responsibilities of grandparents.

"You are a priceless resource of wisdom and inspiration," he said.

President Packer said the responsibility of the elderly is to be active in the Gospel, and not just active in the church.

"Value the old folks for what they are, and not for what they can do," he said. "It is for the old to teach the young."

President Packer counseled the youth not to overlook the value of the elderly because "their life's lessons more than qualify them to council and give advice," he said.

President Packer counseled all saints to value the wisdom and experience of the elderly over their physical capacities.

"Older people have a serenity and spirit of experience," he said.
