President Thomas S. Monson sustains Church leaders

President Thomas S. Monson led the sustainings.

President Thomas S. Monson, first counselor in the First Presidency of the Church, conducted several sustainings and releasings in the Saturday afternoon session.

Among those released was Elder Ben B. Banks of the Presidency of the Seventy. He was subsequently sustained as an emeritus general authority.

After five years of service in the Young Women's General Presidency, Sisters Margaret D. Nadauld, Carol B. Thomas and Sharon G. Larsen were released.

Susan G. Tanner was then called as president of the new Young Women's Presidency with counselors Julie B. Beck and Elaine S. Dalton.
