Ted Gashler moved to Provo almost six months ago after serving as a Mission President in the Russia, Samara mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Before that, Gashler lived in Abbottsford, Wis., where he served 20 years straight in bishoprics and stake presidencies.
Needless to say, Gashler is accustomed to giving service. As are many Latter-day Saints and BYU students from around the globe.
But since moving to Provo, where the vast majority of residents are members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Gashler's church service isn't as needed.
That, he's not accustomed to.
So how can those hungry to serve feel useful in Provo, the heart of Happy Valley? Here are some ideas...
